Problems Resolving Website

Page history last edited by Ping.fm 14 years, 8 months ago

If you are using a 3rd-party app that uses the Ping.fm API to post your messages, you may see an error such as "Unable to resolve api.ping.fm".  This is a technical problem meaning your computer can not find the ping.fm website, but you can tell your computer how to find it.  (This requires some minor technical ability)

First, you'll have to find your "hosts" file.  On Windows NT/2000/XP/2003/Vista, it is located at C:\Windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts

For a list of more operating systems: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hosts_file

Open the file in notepad or the editor of your choice and add two new entries:

69.44.181.242 ping.fm

69.44.181.242 api.ping.fm

67.159.24.59 p.ping.fm

Save, Exit, and try using the app again.

Note:  The IP Address of ping.fm might change in the future.
